  • One Credit Course for Spring Semester - For Spring 2006, we're offering a 1 credit course (which will meet once a week, for 50 minutes) called Information Literacy.

  • Thomas Cooper Library Renovation  - Thomas Cooper Library has undergone renovations in response to student requests. Students who have trouble finding a quiet place on campus to study have asked the library to provide more study space on the Main Level. Plans are to put student study tables and carrels on this floor all the way to the windows on the south side of the building.
  • Chronicle of Higher Education - All USC campuses now have an online subscription to The Chronicle of Higher Education provided by University Libraries. The Chronicle of Higher Education is the premiere source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. 
  • South Caroliniana Library Fire Insurance Maps of South Carolina
  • Library User Survey  - The University Libraries is in the process of measuring the effectiveness of the services we provide. This assessment is being done by a web-based survey called LibQual+TM and it is completely confidential. Your responses will help the University Libraries identify what we are doing right and what we need to improve upon. 
  • Collegiate Discus  - Funded by the South Carolina General Assembly through an appropriation to the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. 
  • $2 million gift for library Special Collections  - The University of South Carolina Thomas Cooper Library has received a $2 million anonymous gift that will go toward a library expansion to house the university's nationally prominent special collections and rare books.

  • USC Fall Festival of Writers - An annual three-day literary festival.  Department of English & Thomas Cooper Library, supported by a generous endowment from an anonymous donor.
  • New electronic resources available for use  - An easy way to find out about the new electronic resources available at the University Libraries.
  • Selected Electronic Book Collections  - Full-text books in collections compiled by libraries and other organizations.
  • Cooper's Corner Coffee Cafe  - Please come enjoy a cup of coffee or a bite to eat at Thomas Cooper Library's NEW Cooper's Corner Cafe.
  • Modern Political Collections  - Collects, preserves, and encourages research in private papers documenting South Carolinians and their government at the national and state levels in the post-World War II era.
  • Notable Acquisitions - is a current awareness service designed to provide information on new materials added to the library collections
