The University of South Carolina is interested in helping all members of the Carolina community appropriately and legally access a variety of media through the Internet. As such, this site provides resources to educate you on how to remain legal in the use of downloaded and personally owned music, video, software and other media. The site also provides information regarding illegal downloading and/or sharing personally owned media. Students, faculty, and staff should always observe the law when downloading or sharing copyrighted music, movies, software, and other media. Illegal sharing and downloading of copyrighted material is against the law. It is the same as stealing a CD or DVD from the store.

The University regularly receives copyright infringement takedown notices for users who have illegally shared copyrighted media files, and works with law enforcement to protect copyrighted material.

The resources available on this site are intended to educate students, faculty, and staff about illegal downloading of copyrighted material.
