What's New
During the Fall 2006 semester so far, USC has received more than four
times the number of copyright infringement takedown notices than it has
typically received in one year, and far more than were received during
the last three years combined. University Technology Services is currently
researching ways of managing the problem with illegal file sharing at USC.
As part of that effort, we are working with various student groups to create
and raise awareness about legal options for sharing music and other media files.
We are also researching technological ways of managing the problem. If you have
any questions about whether what you are doing is illegal, or questions about file
sharing in general, please see our FAQ, or contact the University Technology
Services Help Desk at (803) 777-1800 or e-mail at UTS@sc.edu.
During the Spring 2007 semester, the University signed a
contract with Ruckus Network
to provide a free and legal alternative to downloading music.
More information will be provided.
