Guest conductors and composers are keenly aware of what it takes to succeed in a tough, competitive field and have shared their knowledge and expertise with institute participants from around the world for almost three decades.
Veteran conductors offer constructive criticism and encouragement, and each student has daily podium time focusing on the details of conducting enhancing skills to achieve a greater command with their orchestral forces.
No mirrors or recorded music mean that each day, as your peers observe, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct professional musicians who know the scores intimately. At the end of each day a video of your performance is available to study and assist you in preparing for another day on stage at the podium.
Monday through Saturday during the Institute, the public is invited to view conductor training from 9 a.m. – noon and 1:30 – 4 p.m. Schedule: June 3 – 6, string; June 7 – 10, chamber; June 11 – 14, symphony.
