Caught in the Creative Act fall lineup

Five writers will come to campus this fall as part of Caught in the Creative Act, a five-week course that is free and open to the community.

The class meets from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in Gambrell Hall (map) beginning Oct. 19.

The schedule is:

  • Oct. 21: Ron Rash, South Carolina native and award-winning author; latest novel, Serena, received rave national reviews
  • Oct. 28: Ceridwen Dovey, born in South Africa, grew up in Australia; currently a graduate student at Columbia University in New York City; achieved international attention with her first novel, Blood Kin
  • Nov. 4: Lev Grossman, book critic for TIME magazine; first novel was a critical success; his second book, The Magicians, to be published in August
  • Nov. 11: Tom Perrotta, two novels have been made into movies; the movie made from Little Children starred Kate Winslett
  • Nov. 18: Terry Tempest Williams, author of Finding Beauty in a Broken World; one of the nation's foremost writers on nature and the environment.

The Russell House University Bookstore is offering a 20 percent discount to participants who buy all five books at one time.
