My Carolina moves again: One step closer to destination

By Brad Muller, My Carolina Alumni Association,

My Carolina Alumni Association moved its offices to 1600 Gervais St., next to Havens and across from the Clarion Hotel. This marks the first time in two decades that all 20-plus My Carolina staff members have been located on the same floor of the same building.

“Our Board of Governors is tremendously excited to have a new home for My Carolina that can help us improve our service and outreach to Gamecocks across the globe,” said My Carolina President Eddie Brown, ‘69. “While only temporary, our 1600 Gervais St. facility will provide us the infrastructure necessary to support the development and construction of our future home in the Vista while also helping us improve our customer service and support to Carolina students and alumni.”

My Carolina staff members will work at the Gervais Street location until the new My Carolina Alumni Center opens its doors sometime in late 2014.

The center will be located on the site of the former Damon’s restaurant in the Vista, across from the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center—with which it is expected to share operations—and adjacent to the Hilton Hotel. The center will provide alumni with opportunities for lifelong learning, lifelong career guidance and placement, and technology that will allow greater connectivity with those at a distance. It is expected to break ground in spring 2013.

The physical and mailing address for My Carolina is 1600 Gervais St., Columbia, SC 29201.
