Memorial Day marks the official start of the summer season, and the University of South Carolina is gearing up for all sorts of academic, athletic and arts camps offered during the next few months.

The Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series offers academically talented rising 6th through 12th grade students the opportunity to learn from top faculty and research professors. This year’s offerings give elementary, middle and high school students the chance to try out a new hobby, improve their skills or discover a career path.

That’s just one of the summer learning and fun options. There are also camps offering everything from fashion design to soccer to dance and drama. Camps vary in length, and many offer residential and commuter options.

Here are links to some of the camp opportunities available.

Athletic – Gamecock athletics offers camps for baseball, softball, basketball, equestrian, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball and cheerleading.

Academic – USC’s Pre-University Programs offers the award-winning Carolina Master Scholars Adventures Series, for students in grades 6 – 12 (rising) and taught by some of the university’s top faculty; SAT/ACT summer institutes at USC campuses around the state; Fashion Camp, organized by the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management; Culinary Camp for high school and college students; and Partners for Minorities In Engineering and Computer Science.

Arts – The School of Music, the department of theatre and dance and the department of art offer camps in piano, strings, chamber music, band, drama, dance, art and early music development.
