We educate nurses who serve to build healthier communities and lead our profession
through teaching, research and service. The College of Nursing seeks to be a national
leader in the use of innovative nursing practices.
Goals
Teaching: We seek to transform nursing education. USC is participating in a national
study to determine whether simulation lab hours can replace up to half the clinical
hour requirements for nursing students.
Research: We seek to increase our research and scholarship productivity through interdisciplinary
teams. Our core research areas focus on vulnerable populations and reducing individual
health risks through health education. We also are seeking ways to improve the workplace
for all in the health care industry.
Practice: We seek to nurture a thriving practice environment for our faculty and students
by creating a financially sustainable practice plan and by increasing student research
and scholarship in the practice environment.
