The Center for Health Promotion and Risk Reduction in Special Populations is a core research center funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research to provide the infrastructure to support excellence in the science of health promotion in South Carolina populations. These groups include the elderly, teens, minorities, people living in rural areas, men and women with HIV and AIDS, chronically ill children and others at risk for diseases but who have diminished access to health care.  
College faculty participate in the Center's Summer Writing Camp. Currently, Center and collaborating scientists are conducting research projects throughout the state and southeast. College faculty participate in the Center's Summer Writing Camp.
