The Office of Student
Services (OSS), located on the first floor of the Williams Brice Building,
is responsible for recruitment via the automated telephone information
system, walk-ins, the WEB, prospective undergraduate, masters/post-masters,
and DNP student information sessions, and exhibits at recruitment events.
Advisors conduct lower and upper division undergraduate orientations, master/post-master
and DNP orientations.
The department also
tracks the enrollments for all courses, schedules course offerings, and
does the academic advisement for the undergraduate, masters/post-masters,
and DNP students. In addition, OSS oversees the selection of recipients
for the College of Nursing scholarships and AHEC and Federal Nurse Traineeship
grant monies, and assists with identifying qualified individuals for outstanding
student awards. Assistance with registration, clinical placements,
graduation applications, undergraduate endorsements for the State Board
of Nursing NCLEX, and applications for advanced practice certification exams.
A student newsletter
is published twice a year by OSS, and they update the student handbooks
and University bulletins' college information. OSS also hosts an
Open House for incoming new students each August and plans and coordinates
two convocation ceremonies and two job fairs each year. Other responsibilities
include processing petitions, course grades, withdrawals, and changes of
majors.
