Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
The College of Nursing, University of South Carolina, is seeking a qualified candidate
eligible for the rank of Clinical Assistant
or Clinical Associate Professor to fill a full-time faculty position to teach in the
undergraduate nursing program, including direct supervision of undergraduate nursing
students in the clinical area, with psychiatric mental health area of expertise. Opportunities for
teaching and mentoring in the MSN/DNP Graduate Program are commensurate with expertise
and credentials.
Clinical practice and research/scholarship activities are expected. Faculty appointment
and salary are commensurate with the level of clinical practice, teaching, leadership,
and scholarship experience of the candidate. The faculty member would provide didactic
instruction and clinical mentoring of undergraduate students in clinical and simulation
settings, specifically in the area of psychiatric mental health nursing. We are looking for
a candidate who has knowledge and/or experience of:
Undergraduate Nursing curricula aligning with the Essentials of BSN Education; the
application of innovative online class delivery and simulation methodologies; scholarship
application; and leadership. Must have a serious commitment to the professional development
of undergraduate nursing students.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing, earned doctorate in Nursing (DNP or PhD)
preferred, with an unencumbered
RN licensure, national certification in psychiatric mental health nursing; and nursing
and teaching experience in psychiatric mental health. National certification as a
Family Psychiatric-Mental Health NP desired. Excellent communication skills, team-building,
self-motivation and initiative are expected. State background checks and Basic Life
Support (BLS) are required.
