Background

Professor Smith has been a nurse since 1997. His primary clinical focus is in critical care nursing. He has worked in ICU, CCU, PCU, PACU, Trauma, Med-Surgical, ER, and was a travel nurse for 5 years. Professor Smith has held certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) since 2007. He was a clinical educator for Providence Hospitals and was the director of the simulation center at Providence. Specializing in technology focused training, Professor Smith used various authoring tools to create interactive learning modules for the Learning Management System (LMS) at Providence. He is a certified instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). He obtained his Masters in Nursing in 2011 with a specialization in Nursing Informatics from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota in February 2011; his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC in August 2005; and his Associate in Health Science in Nursing, from Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina in December 1997.
