An annual tradition sponsored by the Center for Nursing Leadership and the Alpha Xi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, this year’s Viana McCown Lectureship has been specially designated as a Reflection Day for the 50th Anniversary. The keynote speaker will be Linda Tarr-Whelan, named as “One of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Washington” by the Ladies’ Home Journal. We encourage everyone to attend this day of celebration, whether you are a practicing South Carolina nurse, an alum of the nursing program, or simply have a love of the profession. We will have many booths, opportunities to share the experiences of nursing over the decades, displays from the College’s memorabilia, slide shows, photo opportunities and more!

Join us for this two-part Gala event! The College of Nursing will host a private reception for Nursing alumni, donors, friends, and family in the Lexington Ballroom before the University’s Annual Alumni Association Gala. The Cocktail Reception will be a private gathering with light hors d’ouvres, a cash bar, an opportunity to mingle with fellow friends of nursing, and music to set the mood.

Around 6:30 pm, take a stroll down the hall to the grand Homecoming Gala – the College of Nursing will have tables together so that we may sit down to the dinner, the annual awards ceremony for outstanding alumni, and a recognition of the Class of 1957. After dinner, enjoy live music, a cash bar, and the dance floor!

Sporting your best Gamecock gear, come and enjoy a family-friendly chance to socialize, snack, and get caught up in the spirit of the event. It’ll be a good day to be a Gamecock, and a great day for alums, friends and family to get together.
