Office of Fellowships and Scholar Programs

National Fellowship Finalists and Winners Support Fund

Since the Fellowships Office was established in 1994, Carolina students have earned 836 prestigious, merit-based scholarships and fellowships - including Rhodes, Marshall, Gates, Fulbright, Truman and Hollings - totaling more than $26 million for advanced academic study. An example of a recent USC winner is Jory Fleming who earned Rhodes, Truman, Goldwater and Hollings Scholarships. Learn more about Jory's story by following this link.

USC Students compete at the national level for these awards, bringing considerable esteem and distinction to the university. However, dedicated funding to support candidates through the rigorous and financially taxing interview process is lacking.

Talented students should never be discouraged from pursuing national awards due to their financial situation. The National Fellowship Finalists and Winners Support Fund will assist USC's national fellowship finalists and scholars with expenses related to:

  • clothing and activities to prepare for national interviews
  • travel to interviews, to meet with faculty and to secure housing
  • initial startup costs and living expenses during fellowship period
  • other expenses deemed necessary by the Office of Fellowships and Scholar Programs
