About the Housing Officer Judicial Training Institute

The Institute will cover the key aspects of the college and university judicial process with topics ranging from questioning skills to case studies. This opportunity will provide participants with a better understanding of judicial procedures as well as the knowledge necessary to effectively hear judicial disciplinary cases.

The program:
The training institute is designed for residence life staff with 0-3 years of experience. Topics to be covered include:

Building Rapport

Hearing Decorum
 

Questioning Skills

Verbal Cues
 

Body Language

Evidence
 

Decision Making

Burden of Proof
 

Sanctioning

 

Case studies will also be used to practice the skills learned while gaining feedback from your colleagues in attendance at the program. Presenters and attendees come from both public and private institutions so relevant knowledge in both systems can be shared and discussed.
