What can Mediation Services be used for?
Mediation Services can be used for roommate conflicts, relationship issues, disuptes within an organization, co-worker conflicts, disputes between departments, and other issues between faculty, staff and/or students.

Who do I contact about using Mediation Services?
Mediation Services are located in the Office of Student Judicial Programs in the James F. Byrnes Building at 901 Sumter Street, Suite 201. You can contact Mediation Services by Email to osjp@sc.edu or by calling 777-4333.

What happens during a Mediation?
The mediator will first review the mediation process and the agreement to mediate with the parties involved. Then each party will share their perspectives on the issue at hand. The mediator will assist in identifying issues to be addressed and facilitate the parties coming to a resolution. The parties involved will identify and agree on the best solution and sign an agreement they will follow in the future.

How much time does it take to mediate a conflict?
We ask that the parties involved dedicate at least two hours for the mediation. If more time is needed, a second session will be scheduled.

How much does mediation cost?
Mediation is FREE. Mediators serve on a voluntary basis.
