Appeals Process

Decisions of the Director of Judicial Affairs or designee or the Carolina Student Judicial Council may be appealed to the Vice President of Student Affairs through the Office of Student Judicial Programs.

The only reasons for an appeal are:

  • The original Hearing Officer/Council committed a procedural error in hearing the case which significantly prejudiced the hearings.
  • NEW evidence, which could not have been available at the time of the hearing and which is material to the outcome of the case, is now available.

To appeal, a student must submit a written statement specifically addressing the reason for appeal. This letter must be submitted to the Office of Student Judicial Programs within five (5) University business days of receipt of the original written decision. The Office of Student Judicial Programs will forward the appeal to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs for consideration.
