Hearing Guidelines
Hearings are closed and confidential and recorded
only as authorized by the Office of Student Judicial Programs.
The party charged with a violation and the
Council members shall have the right to present questions for
witnesses who testify orally.
All hearings shall be conducted in an informal
manner and formal rules of evidence will not be applied. Witnesses,
except for the charged party (and in some exceptional cases,
the victim), shall be present only during the time they are
testifying.
After the decision has been made, the Director
of Judicial Affairs or designee is responsible for forwarding
the written decision of the hearing authority to the charged
party. This decision shall contain the findings of the hearing
authority, sanction(s) and a statement regarding the right to
appeal and appeal procedures.
