Policy for: Columbia Campus
Procedure for: Columbia Campus
Authorized by: Eric Hyman
Issued by: Athletics

________________________________________________________________

I. Policy

A. Revenue Sports

  1. Students must be full-time or have paid the Athletics portion of the activity fee as specified by the University Administration in order to qualify for student tickets to home football and basketball games as long as the allocation of student tickets lasts. Paying the fee does not guarantee a ticket.
  2. All student football and basketball tickets are distributed on an individual game basis according to procedures formulated and approved jointly by the USC Athletic Department, the Student Senate and the University Board of Trustees.

B. Non-revenue Sports

Because the USC Athletic Department receives a portion of the general University matriculation fee (for defraying the cost of men's and women's non-revenue sports), full-time, fee-paying students are entitled to attend all USC-sponsored non-revenue sports at no cost.

II. Procedure

A. Student Registration

During registration, each student will receive a University photo I.D.

B. Revenue Sports--General Rules

  1. Persons picking up tickets must present their current I. D. card.
  2. Student athletic tickets will be distributed for football and basketball at the Russell House according to first-come, first-served basis.
    1. The distribution of football tickets at the Russell House may be discontinued upon mutual agreement of the Athletic Department and the Student Athletic Committee.
    2. Clemson tickets will be distributed by a system set up and controlled by Student Government. Other games may be included after consultation with Student Affairs.
  3. Students receiving tickets by special rules, such as band members and athletes, may NOT obtain general student tickets.
  4. Student Government will assist, if necessary, in keeping order in ticket lines and at tables.

C. Revenue Sports--Specific Rules

  1. A student may obtain a student ticket using his/her I. D. card and is eligible to pick up an adjoining second student ticket by presenting a second Carolina I.D. card. For football, students may also obtain a second student ticket by using a season date ticket book purchased at the beginning of the football season.
  2. When a ticket is issued, the scanned student I.D. card cannot be used again for that game. When used, date ticket coupon books are torn as directed.
  3. Students will be permitted to take a guest to events by presenting only one USC student I.D. card at the gate and two student tickets when the so-called "guest" ticket or second ticket has been given a special validation and paid for at a cost consistent with other special ticket charges for University-related activities, this cost being established by the Athletic Department. Validations for football have been discontinued due to overwhelming demand.
    1. This prior validation shall indicate the use intended by the student (e.g. date).
    2. Unless prior validation has been made properly, anyone attempting to enter a game using two student tickets and one I.D. card or an inappropriate I.D. card will be required to pay full price and will be subject to any sanctions associated with misuse of an I.D. card.
  4. Appropriate application of these procedures may require a ruling by the Student Supreme Court. If the Court cannot meet in time, the chair of the Student Senate Athletic Committee or the Athletic Department may rule in the following cases:
    1. on interpretation of rules for the Senate,
    2. on misuse of the I.D. card.
  5. Invalid I.D. cards will be confiscated.

D. Revenue Sports--Special Groups

  1. Athletes may pick up their student tickets in the athletic section at the Ticket Office on the first day of general student distribution. Tickets must be used for students and I.D. cards will be properly canceled.
  2. The USC Band Director may be allocated a reasonable number of seats for the band members.
  3. The President of the Student Body is given six complimentary tickets for football and four complimentary tickets for basketball.
  4. The privilege of football block seating is extended to the Greek fraternal organizations and to any organization chartered by the Office of Student Affairs with an active membership of 10 or more.
    1. Block seating for fraternities is handled jointly by the Athletic Department and the IFC.
    2. Block seating for other organizations is handled by the Student Government Athletic Committee.
    3. The Athletic Department requires each organization to appoint one permanent representative to collect and return the members' student I.D. cards.
      1. I.D. cards will be delivered to the Athletic Ticket Office by noon on Tuesday preceding the Saturday game.
      2. Tickets may be picked up the following day.

E. Non-revenue Sports

Full-time USC students will be admitted FREE upon presentation of their student I.D. cards to the following scheduled HOME athletic events:

  1. all track meets
  2. all baseball games, procedures for Clemson games will be posted in The Gamecock
  3. all JV football games, if played;
