Presidential Candidate Search Committee Meetings

Minutes for Wednesday, March 12, 4 p.m.;
Thursday, March 13, 8 a.m.

 

The Presidential Candidate Search Committee of the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., recessed for the evening, and continued the meeting on March 13, 2008, at 8 a.m. in the 1600 Hampton Street Board Room.

Members present were: Mr. Miles Loadholt, Chairman; Dr. Robert G. Best; Mr. William L. Bethea, Jr.; Mr. Samuel R. Foster II; Dr. Dianne Johnson; Mr. William W. Jones, Jr.; Mr. Toney J. Lister; Dr. Valdis O. Lumans; Mr. John C.B. Smith, Jr.; Mr. John C. von Lehe, Jr.; Mr. Mack I. Whittle, Jr.; and Dr. Marlene A. Wilson. Mr. Andrew T. Gaeckle was absent.

Others present were: Secretary Thomas L. Stepp; General Counsel Walter (Terry) H. Parham; Vice President for Human Resources Jane M. Jameson.

Chairman Loadholt called the meeting to order and stated that notice of the meeting had been posted. The agenda was distributed at each member's place and a quorum was present to conduct business. He invited Committee members to introduce themselves. He noted that no members of the media were in attendance.

Chairman Loadholt stated that there were proposed contractual matters which were appropriate for discussion in Executive Session. Mr. Smith moved to enter Executive Session. Mr. Bethea seconded the motion. The vote was taken, and the motion carried.

The following persons were invited to remain: Secretary Stepp, Mrs. Jameson, Mr. Parham and Ms. Tweedy.

 

Open Session
Chairman Loadholt thanked Committee members for their participation in the two-day process of interviewing the four Executive Search Firms which the subcommittee had selected.

Since there were no other matters to be discussed, Chairman Loadholt declared the meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
