Presidential Candidate Search Committee Meetings

Minutes for Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 10:05 a.m.

 

The Presidential Candidate Search Committee of the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 10:05 a.m. in the 1600 Hampton Street Board Room.

Members present were: Mr. Miles Loadholt, Chairman; Dr. Robert G. Best; Mr. William L. Bethea, Jr.; Mr. Samuel R. Foster II; Mr. Andrew T. Gaeckle; Dr. Dianne Johnson; Mr. William W. Jones, Jr.; Mr. Toney J. Lister; Dr. Valdis O. Lumans; Mr. John C.B. Smith, Jr; Mr. Mack I. Whittle, Jr.; and Dr. Marlene A. Wilson. Mr. John C. von Lehe, Jr. was absent.

Others present were: Mr. Herbert C. Adams, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; President of R. William Funk & Associates R. William (Bill) Funk; Secretary Thomas L. Stepp; General Counsel Walter (Terry) H. Parham; and Vice President for Human Resources Jane M. Jameson.

Chairman Loadholt called the meeting to order and stated that notice of the meeting had been posted. The agenda had been e-mailed to committee members and a quorum was present to conduct business. Secretary Stepp introduced a member of the media who was in attendance.

Chairman Loadholt stated that there were personnel matters with respect to candidates for the Presidency which were appropriate for discussion in Executive Session. Mr. Lister moved to enter Executive Session. Mr. Smith seconded the motion. The vote was taken, and the motion carried.

The following persons were invited to remain: Secretary Stepp, Mrs. Jameson, Mr. Parham and Ms. Tweedy.

At the conclusion of the Executive Session, Chairman Loadholt declared the meeting adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
