Dr. Helen I. Doerpinghaus
Associate Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Studies
Dr. Doerpinghaus is the Provost's Office liaison to academic units in matters related to all facets of undergraduate programming. She oversees review of the undergraduate general education requirements and coordinates with accrediting agencies to insure compliance for undergraduate programs. Dr. Doerpinghaus coordinates the First Year Reading Experience and serves as faculty advisor for support services such as residential learning centers, service learning, fellowships and scholarships, and pre-professional advising. She is the faculty liaison to the Office of Research & Health Sciences for undergraduate research matters. She serves on other special projects as requested by the Provost.
Dr. Doerpinghaus received her B.A. in English and History from Macalester College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in applied economics at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1987 she joined the Finance faculty at USC's Moore School of Business. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of risk management, insurance, and health and retirement economics. Dr. Doerpinghaus received the Michael J. Mungo Award for teaching excellence, and she has published numerous scholarly articles and co-authored a textbook. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Risk and Insurance and is a past president of the American Risk and Insurance Association.
