Dear University of South Carolina New Faculty:
Welcome to the University of South Carolina! I join with the President and Provost in saying that we are delighted to have you join the faculty at our vibrant university.
I invite you to attend the New Faculty Orientation (PDF) to be held Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (a two-day event) at the Daniel Mickel Center, eighth floor of the Moore School of Business on College Street. The New Faculty Orientation at USC is designed to give you the information needed to make a smooth transition to the University.
The August 13 and 14 orientation will address the following topics:

- Emergency Preparedness and Safety

- Family-Friendly Policies
- General Education and Learning Outcomes

Other opportunities for new faculty during the semester will include orientation at the Thomas Cooper Library, Blackboard and Educational Software Technologies training, Informative Teaching Seminars, and Power Lunches that will discuss balancing teaching and research for tenure and promotion.
An evening event is planned to include families of new faculty and early-career faculty on Wednesday, October 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Strom Thurmond Wellness Center. This event is designed to give you the opportunity to meet early career faculty and provide information about on-campus wellness activities that are available to you and your family.
