USC Center for Dietary Supplements and Inflammation seeks applications for grants:
USC COBRE Center for Dietary Supplements and Inflammation housed at the School of Medicine is a recipient of $10 million grant from NIH to develop research in the area of inflammation COBRE. This Center along with the Cam Center for Inflammation announce the following internal grant awards:

1. COBRE Investigator Grants: The COBRE will support partial salary and research for faculty who have been recruited in 2012. All tenure-track faculty who have not had previous external, peer-reviewed research project grants such as NIH R01 grants or equivalent, as PI, are eligible to apply. Also, those who have NIH R03, R21, K awards or other federal funding to provide preliminary support are also eligible to apply. The total amount that will be provided is a maximum of $175K for 2 years. This will include 75K towards salary+fringes of the PI and 100K towards research for 2 years. Please note that the annual amount of funding that will be provided is $87,500. In order to apply for this funding, please submit a cover page, a budget page, a 4-page NIH biosketch and a 3-page grant proposal in the area of Dietary Supplements and Inflammation. The cover page should include Title of the Proposal, Name and signature of the investigator, e-mail address, Tel. and Fax # and Name of Department and College/School. The Budget page should include the 1st Year, 2nd Year and Total Budget for Personnel, Supplies, Travel and other items for 2 years. No indirect costs are allowed. The proposal should include Specific Aims, Significance of the study, Preliminary Studies (if any), Research Design and References. The deadline for receipt of the proposal is Jan 8th, 2013. 2. Pilot Project Grants: Funds are also available for pilot projects of $10K for a period of 1 year to support research in the area of Dietary Supplements and Inflammation funded by NIH Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at USC (http://camcenter.med.sc.edu/ ). Tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply for these pilot projects. In order to apply for this funding, please submit a cover page, a budget page, a 4-page NIH biosketch and a 2-page grant proposal in the area of Inflammation and Dietary Supplements. The cover page should include Title of the Proposal, Name and signature of the investigator, e-mail address, Tel. and Fax # and Name of Department and College/School. The Budget page should include the Budget for Personnel, Supplies, and other items for 1 year. Funds will not be provided to support salary of P.I. and travel. No indirect costs are allowed. The proposal should include Specific Aims, Significance of the study, Research Design and References. The deadline for receipt of the proposal is Jan 8th, 2013. The start date is Feb 1st, 2013.
