ORAU: Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards

University of South Carolina full-time assistant professors within two years of their initial tenure track appointment(1/11/2011- 1/11/2013)are encouraged to apply for Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards. These awards, which require departmental or college match, provide seed money for research by junior faculty to enrich their research and professional growth faculty and produce new funding opportunities.

Research projects must be in one of the following five disciplines:
•Engineering and Applied Science
•Life Sciences
•Mathematics/Computer Sciences
•Physical Sciences
•Policy, Management, or Education

Applicants are strongly encouraged to develop research collaborations with government, private-sector, and other academic researchers. Such alliances enrich and extend not only the reach of research efforts, but the nation's research enterprise, overall.

Given the close working relationship between ORAU and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the Award Committee particularly encourages collaborative interaction with ORNL. Thus, substantive interdisciplinary research and inter-institutional research partnerships will be considered as very positive factors in the review process, and these will increase chances for success. Additionally, any relationship with ORNL should be emphasized in submitted proposals.

Your application must be coordinated with the Office of the Vice President for Research. Given the required departmental match of $5k, an e-mail of support must be received with all applications. Please submit applications to Richard White(whitejrw@mailbox.sc.edu)by December 5, 2013.
ORAU indicates all applications are due by January 10, 2014.
