Site users' guide
The University of South Carolina Web site provides comprehensive information about the state's flagship institution. New content features were added to the site's main pages in spring 2009.
Home page includes:
- four feature stories focused primarily on events, achievements, research, or outreach
- news stories and selected announcements/events of interest to a wide audience
- quick facts about the University
- links in the top navigation bar for specific audiences
- links in the left navigation bar to academic listings and other campus resources
News section includes:
- a repeat of the Home page headlines
- additional news stories, primarily for internal audiences; the news section effectively replaces Times online, although the Times site still has a PDF archive of the faculty/staff newspaper dating to 2000
- selected campus announcements
- selected campus events
- Story archive, searchable by full text, category, or date
- RSS, which allows site visitors to subscribe to one or more news categories
- Submit-a-story-idea
Media Relations section includes:
- news stories of interest to state, regional, and national media
- lists of faculty experts on a host of subjects, from topics making news to business, politics, and healthcare
- S.C. in the News, a roundup of media coverage of the University and its students and faculty
- Carolina Minutes, five 60-second audio features each week highlighting faculty/staff expertise
- Daybook, a daily roundup of story ideas for news media
