FAQS: PHONES
Q. How can I get voice mail connected in my residence hall room?
Go to https://vip.sc.edu and login with your USC ID and PIN, select
the Financial link and click SHOW ME VOICE MAIL. Then select the
correct semester and year. Follow the on-screen instructions to
set-up your voice mail. You'll be emailed a confirmation and access
code; allow several days for processing.

Q. What kind of a phone do I need to bring to campus?
Touchtone phones are required. If you choose to
bring a cordless phone to campus, keep in mind that you may not be able to make
or receive calls during peak periods due to the limited number of available
channels. Please also note that BellSouth's 900MHz model 924 and 2.4 GHz model
MH9934 cordless phones with answering machines will NOT work on the USC phone
system.

Q. Can I use an answering machine in my residence hall room?
Yes; however, if you choose to bring an answering machine on campus rather than
using voice mail service, please call 7-FIXX before using it. Your telephone
jack will have to be modified to recognize the machine. If your answering
machine is the cause of dialtone problems to your phone, you will be charged.

Q. I'm having trouble with my voice mail. What do I do?
You may contact the University Technology Services Help Desk online at
https://helpdesk.uts.sc.edu
or by calling 777-1800.

Q. What long distance plans are available from my residence hall?
USC offers the 9+ Long Distance service to on campus students. You'll find
details on available plans at
http://www.uts.sc.edu/Telephone/NinePlus.shtml.

Q. How do I sign-up for 9+ Long Distance?
You can sign up for long distance service at
https://vip.sc.edu under
the Financial link.

Q. I will be living off campus. What Long Distance service is
available to me?
USC does not provide long distance service for students living off
campus.
