SLIS 728 - Public Library Systems

Class Session: Monday, May 14, 2018 - Thursday, June 21, 2018

Credit: 3 semester hours of graduate credit

Prerequisites: SLIS 701

Note: Please register for this course by May 7, 2018. Sections for this course: J50 SC (students living in SC); J91 Other States Cohort; J92 Other Countries Cohort. Sections J91 and J92 students pay the cohort tuition rate.


Course Description

Course focuses upon three topics: 1) organizational patterns for various library operations, local and regional; 2) the political environment of the public library; and 3) major problems confronting public library systems.


Online Session Information

There will be live online sessions via Adobe Connect on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm ET. Students may participate live online or view the sessions at a later time. Students are responsible for all material presented. High-speed Internet access is required for Adobe Connect.


Course Delivery Type

A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

(100% asynchronous - if course has any online or face-to-face meetings, live attendance will not be required. For any such sessions, there will be alternative ways to view or obtain the material covered).
