Dr. April Hiscox awarded NSF/NCAR grant

A new experiment to study Earth's stable boundary layers

Dr. April Hiscox is the lead principal investigator on the upcoming SAVANT (Stable Atmospheric Variability ANd Transport) field campaign. In collaboration with colleagues form the University of Illinois, this project will utilize the NCAR Earth Observing Laboratory Lower Atmospheric Observing Facilities to understand stable boundary layers in shallow topographic conditions. The project will provide new knowledge on drainage and converging flows and their effects on aerosol transport in areas of low topographic variability. One of five funded EOL deployments for this year, the 3-year project will support two graduate students and will advance Dr. Hiscox's work on aerosol dispersion.
