29th High School Math Contest General Information

Saturday, January 31, 2015 - 7:00am to 7:00pm

The 29th High School Mathematics Contest at the University of South Carolina is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2015. All South Carolina high schools are cordially invited to participate. Our goal is to stimulate interest in mathematics among high school students and to recognize those who exhibit exceptional talent. At the conclusion of the contest, prizes will be awarded to outstanding individual participants and to winning teams.

 Our tentative itinerary for January 31, 2015, is as follows:

Time Description
8:30 to 9:45 Registration in the lobby of Gambrell Hall.
10:00 to 11:30 Written portion, 90minutes (Classrooms assigned on day of contest).
11:30 to 1:00 Lunch on campus.  The Russell House student union provides several options. Simultaneously, those who so desire can help construct Menger sponges in Gambrell Hall.
1:15 to 2:00 Ciphering portion in Gambrell Hall. Three team members from each school will participate.
2:15 to 3:00 Single elimination tournament. Gambrell Hall auditorium. Participants are the top 16 students from the written portion.
3:15 Award Ceremony in Gambrell Hall auditorium.
