Marine Ecology and Evolution
The Speiser Lab studies the structure, function, and evolution of visual systems in marine invertebrates. We do so using an integrative approach that combines behavioral experiments, molecular approaches, neurophysiological recordings, and computational modeling. Recent projects focus on the distributed, multi-eye visual systems of molluscs such as scallops and chitons. In other words, we study how (and why) seafood sees you.
