School Psychology

Our program prepares you to practice health service psychology in settings that serve preschool and school-aged children and their families. You'll receive a broad range of practical training within the classroom and beyond, including community-based mental health centers, hospitals, and developmental pediatric clinics. 

Focus on Assessment & Intervention 

Our program offers extensive clinical field experience across pediatric, child and school psychology settings. You’ll gain a solid foundation in child psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention and have opportunities to pursue subspecialties. 

 

Prepare for Your Health Service Career 

Most of our graduates go on to work in traditional school settings, but the skills you obtain here are transferable across a broad range of settings, including hospitals, community mental health clinics, research universities and private practice, among others.

Accreditation 

The School Psychology Concentration in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Carolina is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA)'s Commission on Accreditation* and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) through a partnership with the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). It was the third School Psychology Graduate Program in the United States to receive APA accreditation (1974). The last APA site visit was in 2015. The next one will be in 2022.
