STAT 791

791—Practicum in Statistical Consulting. (1)(Prereq: STAT 790) Experiences in actual statistical consulting settings; participation and critiques.

Usually Offered: Spring Semesters

Purpose: To provide statistics graduate students with additional exposure to real consulting experiences and interaction with professional statistical consultants.

Coverage: Students will select clients and attend the first consulting session. Afterwards, they may supervise all consulting sessions with these clients in the Stat Lab, writing a short (2-4 page) report for each client. The STAT 791 faculty coordinator will grade these reports on the standard (A,B+, B,...) grade scale. Unsatisfactory reports will be reworked by the students. Grade in the course will be the average of the best 3 client report grades.
