USC Dance Conservatory

For more than 20 years, the USC Dance Conservatory has trained young dancers from their first steps to advanced levels in a popular after-school outreach program.

The USC Dance Conservatory, now in its 23rd year, is an afterschool community outreach program committed to the training of young dancers from their first steps to advanced levels.  Our primary mission is to furnish our students with a strong ballet foundation.  We also strive to instill a sense of personal accomplishment through a rigorous commitment to excellence, and foster a love and appreciation for the art of dance.

Our faculty teach a unified curriculum developed by Marcia Dale Weary at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Instructors carefully guide dancers so they learn correct technique from day one. USC dance majors also participate in classes as assistance so students receive highly personalized attention and hands-on instruction.

The USC Dance Conservatory operates under the artistic direction of USC Dance Program founder and professor Susan Anderson, who is also head of the USC Dance Program.

SC Summer Dance Conservatory

The conservatory offers two professional intensives for serious students age 11 and older. Students who attend have the extraordinary opportunity to study either ballet or contemporary and jazz with world-renowned instructors, and to showcase their work in a fully-produced dance concert of classical and contemporary repertory.
