A South Carolina native, Jill Chappell-Fail's professional experience includes work with three South Carolina weekly newspapers in Allendale, Bamberg and Hampton counties. She later worked as copywriter for a Columbia public relations firm, as graphic artist for a Columbia alternative news weekly, and as editor of the Greater Columbia Business Monthly Magazine.
Chappell-Fail has taught SLIS 429, a class that focuses on Internet searching techniques, online library resources, and web page construction. She teaches University 101, which provides transitional support for USC freshman during their first semester.
Chappell-Fail has been nominated multiple times for the U101 Teaching Award by her students. She has conducted workshops for the School of Library and Information Science Continuing Education program on digital photography, desktop publishing and web graphic creation. Chappell-Fail has also presented sessions on blogging and podcasting for the annual South Carolina Ed Tech Conference.
