Tilda Reeder teaches by using real-world and real life experiences.  She believes that if students can see that the new information exists either in their lives or in the lives of someone they know, they will be better able to understand, process, and use that information. She is currently teaching Communication and Information Transfer (SLIS 420).

Reeder was born in Fort Belvoir, Va., and grew up as an Army dependent in southeastern United States and Germany. Her family moved to Columbia, S.C., in 1974. Reeder became a military wife and began teaching in Germany in 1985. She taught English, writing, and communications for the Army in Germany and Texas. She has taught for several colleges and adult education programs, but she is now teaching undergraduate students at the University of South Carolina. She enjoys music and dancing, cultural arts events, horses, and collecting giraffe inspired art.  She is a proud mother of two adult children, Shalaine and Desmond.
