Suggested Program of Study
The School of Library and Information Science has developed a program of study (POS) for students enrolled in the Strategic and Business Information area of interest. The coursework for students in this area will instill the skills, knowledge, and professional values that students with the MLIS degree in this area should possess. Graduates with these skills will be able to lead information organizations within public and private institutions to support the mission of their parent organizations. They will support their institutions through the collection, organization, management, analysis, synthesis, and communication of information, turning it into actionable intelligence for their organizations. The POS covers all SLIS program core competencies in the area of Strategic and Business Information.
Students will successfully complete a 36-credit program of study and demonstrate the
successful completion of SLIS program core competencies through the submission of
a satisfactory portfolio that is the capstone experience for the MLIS degree.
