Journalism and Mass Communication - Master of Mass Communication

Need skills and knowledge for a career in the professional world of communications? Then our Master of Mass Communication is the degree for you. This program combines integrated communication, media management, and hands-on communication experiences — everything you need to enhance your professional portfolio.


Students take 36 hours of coursework, which includes a practicum with a newspaper, magazine, television or radio station, advertising or public relations agency or some other approved mass media organization.

As a student, you will take courses in research methods, integrated communication, media law, management and media economics. You will choose either a general program of study or a specialized one in integrated communication.

You will also take up to nine hours of electives either in the journalism school or other USC colleges, which allows you to tailor your degree toward your career goal.
