Comparative and International Education (EDFI 741)
This graduate-level course gives you an introduction to the fields of comparative and international education. It provides an overview of comparative education theory, practice, and research methodology.
We will examine educational issues and systems in a variety of cultural contexts in both industrialized and industrializing countries. The course focuses on educational concerns that transcend national boundaries. The topics we will explore include educational borrowing, globalization, language policy, gender, and curricular reform. As a major project, you will select an educational problem to analyze from a comparative perspective and apply the concepts and methodologies we have explored.
