Undergraduate Scholarships

One of the biggest concerns facing university students and their families is financing their education. To help offset the cost of attending USC, the College of Engineering and Computing offers nearly 100 scholarships for deserving students.

Each year, the College of Engineering and Computing awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to incoming and current students. These scholarships may total up to $1,000 per year for up to four years, and they can supplement state and university-level scholarships. Here's some good news – students don't have to fill out many forms to apply for scholarships. By completing one general scholarship application, the CEC will consider the student for all merit scholarships for which the student is eligible, with the exception of a few scholarships requiring separate application.


Incoming Freshmen

Incoming freshman are considered for scholarships based upon merit indicators including high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Scholarship decisions are generally made by the beginning of May for Fall awards. 

Applications for CEC merit scholarships for the  2024-2025 academic year will be available by December 22, 2023 and are due March 15, 2024. The CEC Scholarship Committee expects to notify applicants by email of scholarship offers for next Fall by April 15, 2024.

Current and Transfer Students

For current and transfer students, preference is given to students who have demonstrated excellence in college level coursework.  Scholarship decisions are generally made by the beginning of July for Fall awards.

The application for CEC merit scholarships for the  2024-2025 academic year will be available by March 15, 2024 and is due June 1, 2024. The CEC Scholarship Committee expects to notify applicants by email of scholarship offers for next Fall by July 1, 2024.

Non-Institutional Scholarships

Non-institutional scholarships can be based on a variety of criteria including but not limited to academic merit, financial need, community service, area of study, organizational affiliation, place of residence or employment, and ethnic or religious background.

One thing to keep in mind is that non-institutional scholarships may affect the amount of need-based financial aid you are allowed to receive in your total financial aid award. Information about non-institutional scholarships and scholarship sponsors are usually available online and in books at your public library.

Use Caution on Scholarship Sites

The scholarship search websites to which we provide links do not charge for the search. However, some websites may sell your name to other companies. When you register to participate in the search, you should consider whether you want to receive mailings from groups who may buy your name and address from the website owners.
