Effects of Cyclical Strain on Elastin Production and Gene Expression in Tissue-engineered Constructs

This project investigates the influence of cyclical mechanical strain on the transcriptomic regulation of elastogenesis in tubular constructs fabricated from microcarriers containing vascular SMCs and endothelial cells, as well as the effects of mechanical pre-conditioning on matrix composition and architecture.  This work is a collaborative effort with the MUSC Proteogenomics Center.
