The Master of Science and Ph.D. programs require independent research and a written thesis or dissertation. The Master of Engineering program is a coursework-based degree requiring advanced technical coursework in the field.
Both the Master of Science and the Master of Engineering require a minimum of 30 hours.
- The Master of Engineering degree requires a minimum of ten, 3-hour courses and no thesis.
- The Master of Science degree requires a minimum of eight, 3-hour courses in addition to 6-hours of thesis.
- A majority of the credits earned must be in 700 and 800-level courses.
Ph.D. requirements may be obtained from the graduate director of each area of study. All Ph.D. programs require a research component that must be done in residence at the UofSC College of Engineering and Computing.
