National Fellowships

What are National Fellowships?

A national fellowship is funding awarded directly to you from an organization outside of the university. Fellowships offer merit-based financial support so you can pursue incredible opportunities like research, study abroad and public service.

Travel the world as a Fulbrighter. Be a voice to protect the environment for future generations with the Udall. Champion leadership in public service with the Truman. Or pursue one of the many other life-changing fellowships available to students in any major.

Don’t think you can apply for a fellowship? Think again.

We get it—as an Honors student, you’ve got a lot on your plate. Luckily, our team of national fellowship advisors are experts at working with Honors students. We’re here to support you every step of the way; together, we’ll make sure the application process is something you can manage.

Our track record speaks for itself: to date, over 2300 Honors students have applied for a national fellowship. On average, 56% of UofSC’s national fellowship winners each year are from the Honors College—and Honors recipients earned over $500,000 in funding last year alone.

But engaging in the national fellowships process isn’t just about winning… As an applicant, you’ll develop your voice, goals and personal path to success, whether that be receiving a fellowship, using your application materials to get a top-tier job or developing meaningful relationships with leading faculty.
