Our Artists in Residence program has three purposes.
- To develop their personal creativity as individuals and offer students an opportunity to do so that they may not find in their major discipline.
- To cultivate a creative community within the Honors College.
- To engage with the larger Columbia arts community. We have talented students, and they benefit from mentoring of talented professionals in the area.
Cultivate your creativity
The Artists in Residence program is open to students in every major across campus. Projects are welcome from any artistic discipline: visual art, musical arts, literary arts, etc. Each student artist receives up to $750 from the Honors College to help with expenses their projects require. As a culmination of the Artists in Residence program, projects are exhibited in the Honors Residence Hall.
Interested artists must be a member of the Honors College and can apply here. Selected applicants will then be interviewed by a committee comprised of the current Honors College student curator, an art expert from the community, and Honors College staff.
Artists for the 2017-2018 cycle have already been selected and currently on show in the Honors Residence Hall gallery. Applications for the 2018-2019 cycle are due by Monday, April 9, 2018 and interviews will be scheduled in late April. Artists will be notified of acceptance before the end of the Spring semester.
