Financial Aid

There are several financial aid resources available to students that will help make college more affordable. Learn more about the options, eligibility requirements and how to apply.

We do not want cost to be the factor that prevents you from receiving a degree from the University of South Carolina, and more specifically from the College of HRSM! Fortunately, there are resources available to help assist you and your family so that you can secure the funding that you need.

The application process for financial aid will primarily be managed by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Getting Started

Your first step is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).* Enter the University of South Carolina Columbia's Federal School Code – 003448 – so that your results will be sent to the university's Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships so that your request for financial aid can be processed.

Students must complete a Renewal FAFSA each academic year.

*Many HRSM students enroll in summer courses in order to complete internship obligations. In addition to the FAFSA, a USC Financial Aid Summer Application is required each summer. This also applies to any study abroad opportunities that take place over the summer months.

Applying for Loans

It is strongly recommended that you pursue scholarships, grants and student employment opportunities before borrowing any money. However, if it becomes necessary, the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will help you identify the right loan option for your needs, and they will also walk you through the application process.

Transfer Students

If you transfer to the University of South Carolina in the middle of an academic year or summer term, financial aid does not automatically transfer, so please work with the financial aid office at your current school to discuss how to make your transfer as seamless as possible.
