Over the past decade, Dr. Carol J. Pardun has focused her research on the impact of the media on early adolescents' sexual attitudes and behavior. She also examines the relationship between advertising and society.

During Spring 2014, Dr. Pardun is teaching the doctoral seminar on pedagogy. She is also teaching a one-hour course called "Historical Milestones in Advertising" as part of the advertising sequence's initiative of offering multiple one-hour elective courses.

Dr. Pardun has focused her academic service within the umbrella of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication where she served as president in 2009-2010. Currently, she sits on the Accrediting Council on Education and Mass Communication, the governing board that oversees all 108 accredited programs.
When not at work, Dr. Pardun heads to the water either to row her single shell on the Broad River with the Columbia Rowing Club. On many weekends, she heads to the coast where she sails with First Mate, Gary, on their good old boat, Galilean, or where she rows sweep with the Beaufort Rowing Club.
