Internships are on a volunteer type basis and are not paid. Internships usually consist of 10 - 16 hours per week per semester.

Fall Spring Summer

Duties of Intern:
The Dickerson Center for Children helps reduce the trauma experienced by children who have been physically or sexually abused; Gather evidence through forensic evaluation and medical examinations to assist in the prosecution of abuse cases; Provide ongoing therapy to assist children in dealing with their abuse; and provide case consultation and coordination of services to other providers. Beyond our association with medical and legal professionals, DCC has an staff that includes a local pediatrician, licensed clinical psychologists, licensed master social workers, and a volunteer group of registered nurses. The specialty care clinic provides medical exams, forensic interviews and counseling. Additional support services include: Crisis management; Children’s advocacy; Follow-up services; Community education programs; and information and referral services. Internship Opportunities: Internships are available at the Dickerson Center for Children in the areas of Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Non Profit Business, Social Work, etc. The Dickerson Center for Children is interested in enthusiastic interns to find innovate ways of alerting the public about our organization, helping with special events and fundraisers, assisting with grant writing and research, and all other aspects of a non-profit organization. Tasks: Tasks include but not limited to, • Media relations • Developing press materials • Assisting with special events/fundraisers • Writing articles • Assisting with grant writing and research • Planning speaking engagements • Corresponding with clients and referral agencies • Creation and design of marketing materials • General administrative functions • Any other related duties to a non-profit organization.
