Duties of Intern:
Complete real work for real clients, and experience public relations within the dynamic environment of a full-service marketing agency. Based in Greenville, S.C., Erwin-Penland (www.erwinpenland.com) provides advertising, event marketing, interactive, public relations and strategic planning services to such clients as Verizon Wireless, Wachovia, Michelin and Advance America. The 165-person firm is part of Boston-based Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos Inc., one of the nation’s largest ad agencies and a member of The Interpublic Group of Companies (NYSE: IPG). Specific Duties: * Conduct online and other forms of research. * Compile media lists and results reports. * Draft written materials such as press releases, fact sheets, media advisories and/or newsletter articles. * Join marketing professionals in concept and brainstorm meetings. * Coordinate with advertising and other marketing disciplines within the agency. * Provide support at media events, if applicable. * Secure vendors for outside services. * Assist with client correspondence and other communications. Internship commitment is four months total, 20 hours per week: January to April (spring internship), May to August (summer internship) or September to December (fall internship). Skills Required for Internship:
SKILLS * Minimum two years college coursework completed. * Working knowledge of business software (MS Word, Excel and Internet Explorer). * Familiar with basic public relations practices and concepts (prefer candidates who have completed some public relations coursework). * Capable writer, familiar with the use of AP Style (prefer candidates who have completed some journalism coursework, with special consideration given to individuals who have had work published in school or other publications). * Creative, energetic, able to work with minimal oversight. * Ability to multi-task a must.
