Timeframe and Compensation: Spring internships run from February to May, summer internships run from June to August, and fall internships run from September to November (dates are flexible) with full and part time opportunities available. Paid and non-paid internships are available depending on corporate needs. Course credit is also available upon request.

Duties of Intern:
Pinkston Group Intern Program Firm Description: The Pinkston Group is a true "media relations" firm, with a focus on generating positive press coverage for our clients, establishing thought leadership for their spokespersons, responding rapidly to communications crises, and strengthening client relationships with important publications. The firm works with a select group of clients to create and execute media strategies designed to meet their specific objectives, such as promoting or launching products and books, influencing legislation, avoiding or managing a crisis, or simply establishing a brand. A few of our current clients include: Corporate: • Ford Motor Company • Morgan Stanley • Smith Electric Book Publishers: • Simon & Schuster • Thomas Nelson • Harper Collins Non-Profits: • Consumer Electronics Association • The Reagan Foundation & Reagan Library • FreedomWorks Responsibilities: An intern with Pinkston Group will learn the process by which the company manages media databases and master planning calendars. Opportunities exist in: • Participating in initial client or product launches by tracking media trends, writing media audits, and updating or gathering media lists. • Tracking daily news trends for story idea input. Gathering media clippings and designing client clip books. • Maintaining and updating booking calendars as well as editorial, awards and conference calendars. • Assist with the distribution of client information and materials or the firm’s marketing materials. • Attending select client and company-wide conference calls and interviews. • Editing and writing select press releases, pitches and possible opinion editorials.
Skills Required for Internship:
College students in their junior year or higher who are studying communications, political science, journalism, or other similar majors are encouraged to apply. Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel is necessary. The ability to prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and to show good judgment are also required.
