Research and Creative Scholarship

Research is not just something professors do in their spare time. It’s a vital part of what we do to ensure that what we teach is timely and relevant. Much of our research is interdisciplinary, drawing our two schools together and linking them to others across the university.  Our health information and communication collaboration is a good example. Both of our schools are ranked in the top ten among other similar schools in key areas related to research, according to data from Academic Analytics.

Our Faculty Interests and Expertise vary and range across the wide spectrum of data and information science, libraries, journalism, mass communication, strategic communication, including advertising, public relations, and health communication, and visual communication.

We stay busy. Check out our live and virtual events, as well as find video links to past speakers and research sessions on our Conferences and Events page.

Each month, the CIC recognizes faculty and graduate student excellence by compiling a list of all publications, grants, awards, and more in our Research Roundup.

In keeping with the university’s commitment to cutting-edge research, College of Information and Communications faculty actively seek funding opportunities to support their research initiatives.  Learn more about our Sponsored Awards and Grants.
